About Me
Hi there! I'm Maureen, creator and author of Adventures in the Underground, the blog.
I grew up in Michigan, became a geologist, went to grad school in Vegas, got a degree in soil science and somehow ended up here in New Mexico (which is, in fact, a state and not the newer part of Mexico as some people believe), doing stuff like this for a living.
When I'm not taking naps by giant holes, I live and work here in the lovely city of Albuquerque. It's classy! (Okay, not really, but it has pretty pink mountains!)
I don't really remember why I started keeping a blog. Probably because I was bored and/or wanted to find a place to vent about my string of crazy college roommates. Over the years, it has moved around a lot and changed its tone a bit, but it's still me. Like... metamorphosis. Maybe?
Also, if you want to know more about The Flying Taco, you should check out the link to this article. It works best if you have access to scientific publications, but if you don't you can at least read the abstract and speculate about the awesomeness that was the Cenozoic expansion.
